John Floyd Lawson, 90, passed away on July 10, 2015 in Rogers.

He was born on Feb. 18, 1925 in Rogers, AR. to the late Burks F. and Bertha (George) Lawson.

He was the loving husband of Mary Marvene (Brown) Lawson for 68 years.

He lived his entire life in this area, other than the time he served in the US Navy, in the South Pacific during WWII.

He returned after his discharge and married Marvene.

After working for other automobile agencies in town, he began his own business, known as Rogers Body Shop. He owned and managed it until his retirement.

The First Baptist Church of Rogers, pastored by Rev. Rel Gray at that time, ordained him to preach the gospel in 1953. He pastored First Baptist in Garfield, Twelve corners, Monte Ne and Mason Valley, in his nearly forty years of ministry. He retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of Rogers; two sons, Jerry Lawson and his wife, Dona of Rogers, and Bob Lawson of Rogers; one grandson Brad Lawson and his wife, Anne of Stillwater, Okla.; two great-granddaughters, Becca and Emma; one great-grandson John; three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Geneva Lawson Hayes and Nadine Lawson Skaggs.

His visitation will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 5 until 7 p.m. in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Olive Street in Rogers. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Avoca, AR.
