A native of New Haven, Dr. Dunn was educated in the local schools and graduated from Yale. He taught at Catholic University, Washington DC from 1898-1931. He was the author of several books and a contributor to American reviews, dictionaries, and encyclopedias. He was an authority on Celtic and Portuguese languages and in 1945 he collaborated with two others in writing the history of the Yale class of 1895 for its 50h reunion.

Dr. Dunn died at his home in New Haven April 10, 1951. He was survived by his sister, Miss Abigail D. Dunn.
