Born in Turkey, to Greek parents, Chris emigrated from his homeland to the U.S. around 1905-1906, and before long became one of the top professional wrestlers in the country, capturing the World Welterweight Title in 1912, and the World Middleweight Title in 1913, and mostly retiring from active competition in 1928. In the early 1930s, he settled in Fairfield, Alabama, and became the top promoter of light heavyweight wrestlers in Alabama for most of the decade.
