Television Personality. He was best known to television viewers as the "liberal side" of Fox News' "Hannity & Colmes" from 1996 to 2009. While working toward his bachelor's degree in communications at Hofstra University, he worked at the college's radio station. After graduating in 1971, he started his career as a stand up comedian. He later went to work at various radio stations across the Northeast United States. In 1996 he was hired by Fox News and started as the co-host, along with Sean Hannity, of the political talk show "Hannity & Colmes." He would continue to be the "liberal viewpoint" to Hannity's conservative side until 2009 when he left the show. He continued to work as a political commentator for Fox News, appearing on various shows. He also hosted his own nationally syndicated talk-radio program "The Alan Colmes Show", which was distributed by Fox News and also aired in the United States on Fox News Talk Channel on Sirius XM Radio. He also was the author of the books "Red, White, & Liberal, How Left is Right and Right is Wrong" and "Thank the Liberals**For Saving America."
