"Frank" McCaffrey was a native Vermonter, born and died in Burlington, whose life took him all over the world. He entered the Navy in 1944, serving aboard LST 1106 in the Pacific Theater and participating in the occupation of Japan. In 1948 he entered the Merchant Marine as a communications officer, serving aboard tankers until his retirement in 1985. Frank was the loving husband of Pauline, sister of his best friend in their neighborhood, and proud father of seven children: Marie (1950- ), Michael (1951- ), Matthew (1956- ), Mark (1958- ), Maureen (1959- ), Maggie (1962- ), and Melissa (1965- ).

Frank started researching and recording his family's genealogical history at the age of 50, and left to his descendants information about the McCaffrey, Duffy, Garrow, Carroll, and Alden forebears that are their legacy. He contributed well over 3,000 memorials to Find A Grave (member ID 46874244) during his eight active years on this site.

Well loved, and sorely missed by his family and many friends.
