Ice Hockey Player. Olympic Gold Medalist. International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame. A member of the great Soviet teams of the 1970s, he was a member of the dominant Mikhalov-Kharlamov-Petrov Line and is the 4th all-time leading scorer in IIHF World Championship play. His teams won 6 World Championships in 1969, 1970, 1973, 1974, and 1979. He won gold medals in the Olympics in 1972 and 1976 and the silver medal in 1980 and played in the famous "Miracle on Ice" game vs the USA in Lake Placid. He also played in the first Soviet-Canada Summit Series in 1972. He was a successful club player as well , with the Soviet Wings, Red Army and SKA Leningrad, winning 5 league scoring titles and being named Soviet Player of the Year in 1972 and 1973. After his retirement in 1983, he served as president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation in the 1990s. He was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in 2006.
