Dr Salk's parents were Daniel B Salk and Dora Press. He was born in New York City. His siblings were Dr Jonas E Salk the inventor of the polio vaccine and Dr Lee Salk a child psychologist. He passed away in Palm Springs at the age of 72. Dr. Salk was a prominent veterinarian in the Coachella Valley. He formerly owned the Desert Animal Hospital for 23 years and currently owned the Cahuilla Veterinarian Clinic, both located in Palm Springs. Dr. Salk and his wife, graduated from Cornell University in 1946. Dr Salk founded The Fund for African Students. Survived by his wife, Sylvia Salk, D.V.M.; children Steven D.V.M., David, Lisa and Susan Salk; granddaughter, Lindsey Salk; brothers, Jonas Salk M.D., and Lee Salk Ph.D.
