She was born in Branford, August 10, 1914 to Attorney Frank Kinney and Katherine Cox Kinney. After graduating from Trinity College, Washington D.C., she married Doctor Harold Flynn of New Haven, who predeceased her. Together they raised five children who now mourn her passing. They are: Mary Ellen McGowan, and her husband Gerry of Cape Cod; Catherine Flynn of West Hartford; Alice Fitzpatrick of Stonington; Joseph of Chicago; and Charles of North Carolina. Her five grandchildren are Christen O'Connor, Lauren Middleton and her husband Bill, Maria and Diana Flynn and Catherine Flynn. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren. Catherine was predeceased by her brother Frank Kinney Jr. of Branford who is survived by his widow Nell and their twelve children. For many years Catherine has been lovingly cared for by her niece Kathleen Xeller of Branford who has earned the families great appreciation.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford Thursday, December 31st at 10:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Branford at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 10:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
