George Stanley Gillespie May 31, 1919 December 12, 2005 George passed away peacefully on December 12, 2005. Predeceased by parents Albert and Mary Gillespie; brothers Ross and Jack; loving wife of 62 years Lorena Mae (nee Henson) and beloved daughter Yvonne. He is survived by: sisters: Thelma (Rimbey, AB ) and Elaine Wheale (Nanaimo); brothers: David, Ken (Ella), Walter (Helen), and Ron (Shirley) and their families. George's life was truly enriched by the love and faithful support of the Gillespie Clan. He loved the family of God and especially appreciated being connected with his church family at the Evangelistic Tabernacle where George served on the board. From farming to sales (Eatons and Fletchers), George was successful at whatever "his hand found to do". In the early 70's, George left sales and devoted 10 years to reside and caretake the Nanoose Bay Pentecostal Camp. There George and Mae embraced all who came into their home and became known to many as Mom and Dad Gillespie. All of these spiritual sons and daughters are filled with gratitude that words could never express. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of Kiwanis Lodge who made Dad Gillespie call it home and mean it. Special thanks to Dr. Theresa Van der Goes and Pastor Markham. For those who wish to leave a gift in his memory, donations can be made to Nanoose Bay Pentecostal Camp. For more information please call 753-0258.
