Actor. Raised in Rome, Italy, he learned to speak several different languages, in addition to studying Classical Dance. Following service with the United States Marine Corps, he returned to his native New York, where he studied at the Dramatic Workshop. He acquired experience on stage in the Broadway production of "Shinbone Alley" (1957). He worked his way into motion pictures and received minor roles before landing the part of 'Haynes' in the star-studded, action thriller "The Great Escape" (1963). He achieved his most success on the small screen and appeared in scores of popular TV programs including "The Outer Limits", "Combat!", "Perry Mason", "Hogan's Heroes" and "Mission: Impossible". He will perhaps be remembered by television audiences for playing the character 'Decius' in the episode called "A Balance of Terror" (1966) and as 'Stonn' in the episode called "Amok Time" (1967), both from the original "Star Trek" series.
