Mary E. Amanda (DeLong) Brown was born 18 Oct 1860 in Longswamp Township, Berks Co., PA. She was the d/o Joel DeLong and Maryann Levan Mattern.

She married Alvin Joseph Joel Brown s/o David J. D. brown and Catherine Anna (Fritz) Brown 19 May 1888 in Egypt Reformed Church in Lehigh Co., PA.

She died 6 Dec 1933 in Whitehall Township, Lehigh Co., PA. She was buried 9 Dec 1933 in Egypt Cemetery in Egypt, Lehigh Co., PA.

After an illness of five months, during six weeks of which she was bedfast, Mary E.(DeLong) Brown, wife of Alvin Brown, passed away at 2:15 Wednesday morning at her home near Egypt, Coplay R. 1. She was aged 73 years, 1 month and 18 days. Mrs. Brown was born in Longswamp, Berks county, a daughter of the late Joel and Mary (Mattern) DeLong.

She was quite young when the family moved to Lehigh county. She was confirmed in the Unionville church by Rev. Fogel, and was united in marriage with Alvin Brown forty-five years ago. For many years she was a faithful member of the Reformed wing of the Egypt church, and she was held in high esteem by a large circle of friends.

There survive her husband and four children: Mrs. Raymond Laudenslager, Allentown; Joseph and Fred Brown, Egypt; and Raymond Brown, Catasauqua. There are also fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and the following five sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Preston Mickley, Egypt; Miss Sallie DeLong, Rising Sun; Mrs. William Trewicz, Steelton; Mrs. Alice Geiger, Coplay; Mrs. Ellen Schmoyer, Schnecksville R. 1; Daniel DeLong, Lafayette, Inc.; Paul DeLong, Allentown; and Tilton DeLong, Egypt.

Brief private funeral services will be held at her late home on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. with continued public services in the Egypt church at 2 p.m. and interment in the adjoining cemetery.
