Roberta Diane (Jonsson) Nunamaker, 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born in Chicago on March 17, 1939, the oldest of eleven children born of the late Martin and Mary Roberta (Wallace) Jonsson.
Roberta married Floyd Webster Nunamaker on July 13, 1957, in Chicago, and together they shared in 46 wonderful years of marriage before his death on January 4, 2004.
Their married life began in Niles and the two resided in the Chicagoland area for many years before relocating to Kane in 1974. In 1981, they returned to the Chicagoland area where Roberta remained for many years, retiring in 2009 after 26 years of service as a bus driver for Township High School District 211 serving Schaumburg and Palatine. In July 2015, she relocated to Mount Vernon to be closer to her children.
Roberta and Floyd were a fun-loving couple and enjoyed dancing to Big Band music, whether it be out for a night on the town or in their own living room. After Floyd's death, Roberta found peace and enjoyment quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was also a movie buff and an adoring fan of Garth Brooks.
Surviving are a son, Brad Nunamaker of Greenfield; a daughter, Nicolle of Centralia; six grandsons, Keith, Jeffrey, Axel, Anthony, Zachary and Trevor; a great-granddaughter, Sage; five brothers and their spouses, Eddie Jonsson of Addison; Greg and Dawn Jonsson of Lisle; Bob and Linda Jonsson of Hanover Park; Mitch and Gloria Jonsson of Aurora and Michael Jonsson of Wheaton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lynn Gagliano of Addison and Chris and Larry Peters of Fulton; as well as two sisters-in-law, Peggy Jonsson and Teresa Galis.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, Pamela, Jeffrey and Martin Jonsson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Sunday, March 19.
She will be laid to rest with her husband Floyd at the Kane Cemetery, with full Military Honors being conducted to honor Floyd's service with the United States Navy.
