CAMBRIDGE - Michael T. O'Neill of Cambridge, an insurance agent, died Tuesday at Mt. Auburn Hospital of complications from a stroke. He was 46.


Mr. O'Neill was the son of the late Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill, Jr., the former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and a former Harwich Port resident, and the brother of Thomas P. O'Neill III, a former Massachusetts lieutenant governor, who lives in Harwich Port and Boston.

He was a lifelong resident of Cambridge and attended Boston College.

Besides his brother, Mr. O'Neill leaves three sons, Michael O'Neill, Peter O'Neill and Thomas O'Neill, all of Shrewsbury his mother, Mildred O'Neill of Bethesda, Md his brother, Christopher O'Neill of Bethesda, Md two sisters, Rosemary O'Neill of Washington and Susan O'Neill-Daniel of Bethesda, Md. He also leaves his longtime friend, Marilyn Daily of Cambridge.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Church in Cambridge. Burial will follow in the Cambridge Cemetery.
