She was first married to Edward Hancock in Illinois. They had four children. She left Edward for George in 1867; Edward filed for divorce in 1872. She and George had four children, three in Illinois and one in Iowa. They moved to New Jersey before 1880. Census forms give several birth locations for Mary: Ohio, Illinois, and Ireland. Ohio is most likely correct. Her parents were Hartshorne White (1805-1879) and Ann Chasey or Chacy.
Note: Edward Hancock was George Deacon's uncle.
She is my third great grandmother and my fifth great aunt.
