Sumie Marumoto Croydon died at her home in Kapa’a on July 10, 2007, with loved ones at her side.
Born in Kilauea on July 25, 1920, to Yasoichi and Shima Marumoto, she attended Kilauea School, Kaua‘i High School and Canon Business School. As a young woman she moved to O‘ahu, where she worked for Meadow Gold and then Muller and Phipps. It was there that she met her husband Fred Croydon.
