Opera Singer. A tenor, he is best remembered for his portrayals of Wagnerian heroes. After his initial training in his city of birth, he made his professional debut in 1889 at the Linz Opera House in Austria. He remained there until 1891 when he joined the Theater Regensburg in Germany. From 1892 until 1896 he performed at the Graz Opera House in Austria, singing the title role in the 1893 world premiere of Siegmund von Hausegger's "Helfrid." In 1896 he became a member of the Neues Deutsches Theater in Prague and remained there for the remainder of his short career. While there, his notable performances included the role of 'Don Ottavio' in "Don Giovanni," the title role in Charles Gounod's "Faust," the title role in "Lohengrin," 'Siegmund' in "Die Walkure," and the role of 'Tristan' in "Tristan and Isolde." Additionally, he appeared as a guest artist performing primarily Wagnerian roles at the Vienna State Opera (1899), the Bavarian State Opera (Munich, Germany - 1902), the Semperoper (Dresden, Germany - 1902), and the Opern-und Schauspielhaus (Frankfurt, Germany - 1902). While negotiating to join the Bavarian State Opera, he died unexpectedly at the age of 33.
