DAUGHTER OF SONORA WOMAN TAKES HER OWN LIFE
Mrs. Nettie J. Westrem, of Sonora received word today that
her daughter, Mrs. Lena LaVerne Schwab, 44, of Richmond, had
taken her life. The act occurred at 12:10 a.m. Monday when
Mrs. Schwab stood at the corner of 27th and Roosevelt Avenue
in Richmond and fired her husband's service revolver into her
heart. Her death followed that of her husbands, the late
Charles W. Schwab; Richmond Police officer, by less than a
month. He had died at the same location on July 4th when he
was stricken with a heart attack and died at that corner.
Nine days later Mrs. Schwab requested an eyewitness to
show her the exact spot where her husband had died and
the following week she reserved a crypt beside her husbands
at the Sunset View Mausoleum in Berkeley. Pinned to Mrs.
Schwab's dress was her husband's police badge-No. 42, and a
note which read: "Life ended for me on July 14 when Charles
died. I don't want life anymore". It was signed "Without
regrets-Lena"
