Marie M. Alford, age 96 of Presque Isle [Vilas Co.], and formerly of Morton Grove, Ill., died Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Marie was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Morton Grove [Cook Co.], Ill., the daughter of Anthony and Bertha (nee Stascio) DiSalvo. Marie attended St. Martha’s School and graduated from Niles High School. She married Howard Alford Jan. 29, 1943. Marie worked for First National Bank in Morton Grove, Ill., and was a member of the Presque Isle Lioness and was an outstanding cook and baker.
She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette (George) Nelson of Presque Isle, and by her beloved grandchildren: David (Yendini) Nelson, Matthew (Stephanie) Nelson, Allison Nelson, Laura Nelson and Vickie (Mats) Ceder; and her precious great-grandchildren: Mackenzie and Ryan Nelson, Alexander Nelson, Claire Nelson, Emily and Christina Ceder, Olivia and Sydney Wagoner; and further survived by her Brother, Lucien (Delores) DiSalvo and by nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister; Connie (Bud) Huber and brothers; John and Jim DiSalvo.
Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m., at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Morton Grove, Ill., followed by inurnment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines [Cook Co.], Ill.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Dr. Kate Ministry Hospice, PO Box 770, Woodruff, WI 54568.
