Born November 28, 1908, in Manhattan to Joseph and Josephine Pantano DiMatteo, Mrs. Zappala attended schools in New York city.
She married Nunzio "Frank" Zappala on November 28, 1937 in Brooklyn and worked as a seamstress in the garment district of Manhattan.
The couple later moved from Brooklyn to Brewster and lived there for almost 50 years. She became an honorary member of the Italian-American Club in Brewster and was later a volunteer for Putnam Hospital Center n Carmel and active member of Southeast Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Zappala was a parishioner of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Zappala is survived by two daughters, Sandy Cohen of Nanuet and Rosemarie Ravo of Thiells; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
