Professional Football Player, Crime Figure. Born Aaron Josef Hernandez, he graduated from Bristol Central High School in 2007, and attended the University of Florida. As a college junior, he won the won the John Mackey Award, presented annually to college football's best Tight End. He entered the National Football league draft in 2010, and was drafted in the fourth round by the New England Patriots. Hernandez played from 2010 to 2012; he made the Pro Bowl as an alternate in 2011, and played in Super Bowl XLVI. In 2012 he signed a five-year contract extension, which was one of the largest ever for an NFL tight end. Hernandez had been involved in or was a suspect in several incidents of violence; in 2013 he was charged with murder in the case of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player who had been dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend. After his 2015 conviction, Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison. In 2017, he was acquitted of murder in a 2012 double homicide, but convicted of illegal gun possession.
