Denny Dunn, 85, of the Athelstane, WI and Amberg, WI area, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 16th, 2017, at Newcare in Crivitz, Wisconsin. He was born September 13th, 1931, in Athelstane, Wisconsin, son of Ben and Ruth (White) Dunn.

Denny was raised and spent his school years in Athelstane.
He served for four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of Ironworkers Local 8, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and retired in the early 90’s.

He adored his mother, took tremendous pride in his grandchildren’s achievements, and was protective of his children. No one enjoyed a quick turn of a phrase like Denny Dunn. The novel “Hillbilly Elegy,” land of Grandma Ruth’s Clan exemplified his high spirit and wonderfully irreverent sense of humor. His roots were deeply entrenched in the North Woods and he claimed that Presbyterianism was in his DNA. He was endlessly curious and read a wide range of topics including politics, history and travel. He excelled in trivia and could give accounts of destinations he had never reached as well as local history.

Denny lives on through daughters: Sally and Patricia;
grandchildren: Meghan and Connor;
sister, Donna Helton;
brother Tom Dunn;
his aunt, Gwenneth White; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22nd, at the Athelstane Presbyterian Church. A service by Reverend Craig Alwin will be held there at 11 a.m. Following the service, his burial will be in the Athelstane Cemetery.
