Entered service, May 29, 1918, from East Detroit, Michigan. He was assigned Company C, 118th Machine Gun Battalion, 31st Division. The 118th Machine Gun Battalion shipped out for France, October 6, 1918, from New York Harbor. Transferred in France to Company A, 105th Machine Gun Battalion, 27th Division. Returned to the States, March 6, 1919, docking at Hoboken, NJ. He was discharged from the service, April 20, 1919.
