Capt. Gore was born on June 3, 1931 in Empire, GA., to the late Ernest L. and Lillian McAllister Gore, Sr. He had four brothers and two sisters, all of whom are deceased. After graduating Dodge County Schools, he joined the Marine Corps at the early age of 19 and proudly served for 20 wonderful years. He spent the first four years stateside at various Marine Corps bases, then served in Japan during the Korean War. Capt. Gore also served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Da Nang. Later he was sent to Okinawa for a tour of duty and then to California where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant.

After retirement the family moved to Perry where he was employed at several jobs before retiring with 16 years of service from the City of Perry in 1996. Following his retirement they moved to Augusta, and from there to Thomaston where he currently resided.
