With a career of 42 years in higher education, his final 35 years (1968-2002) were at Missouri State University as a member of the department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Prior to this he was a member of the physical education faculty at Western Illinois University for seven years. As a physical educator, Wes taught many subjects and activities and coached several sports.
Wes was inducted into the Illinois State University Athletic Hall of Fame for his football achievements.
Surviving Wes is a brother, Sam Bair, and his wife Ondina and their children, Lewis, Larry, Johanna and Laura.
Wes was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis (Fehlhaber) Bair (2002) and by his wife of three years, Joan (Popendick) Bair (1957). Also preceding him in death were his parents Dean and Beatrice Bair and a brother Harold.
Interment at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
