Erwin P. Bettinghaus, 53, of 845 S. Lincoln Ave., district plant superintendent of Illinois Bell Telephone Co., died at 2 p.m., Feb. 1, 1958, in a Galesburg hospital where he was taken after suffering a heart attack earlier at the Hotel Custer while attending the wedding of his son, James.

Mr. Bettinghaus was born July 4, 1904 in Springfield.

He had been an employee of the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. since 1912 residing in Chicago, Rockford, Peoria and Springfield while in the company's service.

He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, the church board and chairman of the church building fund finance committee.

Mr. Bettinghaus was a past president of the American Business Club in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; two sons, Erwin Paul, Urbana; James of Detroit, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Hanken, Peoria; one brother, George W., Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Louise Horn, Springfield; two grandchildren.

Services were at the Bisch Memorial Home.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
