Joe C. Conner, 84 who had resided at 936 Third Avenue East, died in Whitefish on Thursday morning. He was born September 14, 1891 in Bonita, Texas.

He had received his education in Texas and followed cattle ranching with his family until grown to manhood. He then traveled with the Matador Cattle Company coming to Eastern Montana to the Harlem and Dodson area in 1915.

He was married to Lela M. Farless of Oklahoma in 1913, and was preceded in death by her in 1943. To this marriage three children were born.

The family moved to the Kalispell area in 1935 where Mr. Conner was employed as a salesman in the department stores for several years. In May 1946, he was married to Mary Ellen Hostetter of Virginia.

They moved to the lower valley area and engaged in farming operations for nearly 15 years, moving back to Kalispell in 1964.

Mr. Conner was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

He is now survived by his widow, Mary, at home, one son, W. Royce Conner of Jacksboro, Texas, four sisters, Mrs. Ora Grady, Mrs. Bernice Wall and Mrs. Audra Bowling all in Texas and Mrs. Ed (Mary) Chick of Clovis, NM, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Conner will be conducted in the Johnson Chapel at 11am Monday with the Rev M.R. Erdman, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church officiating.

Burial will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
