Lot 3610 Section 86 Grave 3

Green-Wood Cemetery
Section 86, Public Lot 3610, Grave #3.

Public lot graves, measuring about 4 by 8 feet in area, have room for only one stone apiece, limiting the space for inscribed text. A typical public lot grave can accommodate about 5 adults—more if those interred are infants or have been cremated. Like many public lot graves, this one is unmarked.

It is at the center of the photo, immediately to the right of the stone with the word “HUSBAND” inscribed across its top.

[NOTE: On a 1920s map of this area, grave #3 us annotated to indicate the presence of a stone bearing the name “Vincent.” That stone may still be on the site. Arrangements can be made with cemetery staff to have the stone raised and reset if it can be found.

This grave was purchased Aug 8 1858 for the burial of Sarah Vincent. Subsequent burials in chronological order were: George Vincent, 4/9/1862; Elizabeth Norris, 1/6/1875; Clara L Norris, 7/15/1896; and Jessie A Gray (infant), 7/24/1899.
