Michael Wayne Jenkins of Richardson, Texas passed away March 25, 2017, at the age of 74. He was born September 25, 1942, to John William Jenkins and Una Aline (Ramsey) Jenkins in McKinney, Texas. Michael was a 1961 graduate of McKinney High School and 1965 graduate from Austin College. He married Janie Gilbert on December 17, 1966, in Arlington, Texas. Michael was in the Texas Public Schools for thirty-six years. He worked throughout the state of Texas coaching and teaching in Borger, Electra, Mesquite, Snyder and Richardson. Michael retired as the Athletic Director for Richardson Independent School District. He received many honors during his coaching career, including the selection into the Texas High School Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildrens' activities. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife after retiring. He was a great leader, mentor and role model and touched the lives of everyone he met.

Michael is survived by his wife, Janie Jenkins of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Kim Ordieres and husband Jorge; grandsons, Mike Ordieres and George Ordieres; granddaughters, Katie and Maddie Ordieres all of McKinney, Texas; sisters, Una Farley of Port Aransas, Texas, Billie Bryant of Springfield, Missouri, and Mary Lewis of Sherman, Texas; sisters-in-law Edith Jenkins, Linda Jenkins, Christie Jenkins, Francis Gilbert, Linda Gilbert and Joan Mason; brothers-in-law, Harlan Gilbert and Dale Gilbert; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by parents, John and Una Jenkins and brothers, J.W. Jenkins, Curtis Jenkins, Don Jenkins, and J.T. Jenkins.
