The entire community of Lake Placid, New York was saddened Sunday afternoon, May 1, 1927, by the news of the death of Mrs. John M. Devlin at her home on Main street. Mrs. Devlin had been confined to her bed only a week to the time she was fatally stricken. She was 28 years of age.

Testifying to the universal esteem in which she was held throughout the Lake Placid village and adjacent communities, a throng which made one of the largest funerals ever held in Lake Placid was present at the last rites Wednesday morning, May 4, to pay their final respects to the friend and relative who had passed on.

Funeral services were held at St. Agnes church, of which deceased was a member, Wednesday morning, May 4, at 10 o'clock with Rev. D. E. Cahill officiating. Interment was in St. Agnes cemetery. Bearers were Vernon Devlin, Hurley Devlin, Mark Devlin, William E. Hovey, Francis B. Madden and Judson L. Ware. Arrangements for the funeral were in charge of C. R. Wilkins of Lake Placid.
