CENTER POINT - Helen M Murphy, 77, went to be with the Lord July 4, 2006, after a four-year battle with cancer.

Helen was born January 13, 1929, in Havre, Montana, to Carl and Elizabeth (Grabofsky) Hoppe. They preceded her in death, as did her husband, Phillip S Murphy, son, Phillip S Murphy, II, grandson, Dennis Oster and two brothers, William and Robert Hoppe. She graduated from Havre High School and went on to nursing school where she received her LPN.

Helen married Phillip Murphy January 16, 1949, and then moved to Oregon where she continued her nursing career. She and her family returned to Montana and lived many years in Corvallis where she was active as a 4-H leader for 16 years. After the death of her husband and son, she moved to Pearland, Texas, where she lived with her daughter and family. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church and was active in Christian Helping Hands and Meals on Wheels. She moved to Center Point in 1997.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Blair and husband, Doug, of Hamilton, Montana, and Phyliss Oster of Center Point, Texas; grandsons and granddaughter; great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Hoppe and wife, Marillyn, Walter Hoppe; sister-in-law, Erma Hoppe; brother-in-law, Glenn Murphy and wife, Pat; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be on Friday, July 7, 2006, 10:30am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, Pearland, Texas, with Pastor Jon Salminen officiating. Graveside services will be at a later date in Havre, Montana.

Memorials may be made to Fanconi Anemia Research, Inc, Hospice of Kerrville, Texas, Christian Helping Hands, Pearland, Texas, or charity of your choice.
