He appeared in almost 30 silent films in Hollywood between 1920 and 1931, being particularly known for The House of Secrets, Annie Laurie opposite Lillian Gish, and for playing John the Beloved Apostle in Cecil B. DeMille’s The King of Kings. He appeared regularly on Broadway between 1929 and 1936, where his credits included East of Broadway and a 1933 revival of It's a Wise Child.
