Musician. He is considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century. Sergiu Celibidache called him "The greatest living artist" and no less a figure than Alfred Cortot acclaimed him a "new Liszt." From early on, he also devoted himself to teaching, with appointments at the conservatories of Bologna Venice and Bolzano. His pupils included such piano legends as Maurizio Pollini, Martha Argerich and Ivan Moravec. His many recordings are still available.
