Rina Fedora Filippini was an Italian soprano born in Genoa on 9 September 1917 and died in Pesaro, on July 12, 1991 aged 73. She studied in Milan with Giannina Russ and won the competition of the Rome Opera House in 1937. She was soon performing widely (under her artist's name Fedora Solveni) in such roles as Musetta and Lola. Early engagements included Rome and Covent Garden. In 1941 she married the tenor Mario Del Monaco. In later years she was active as a teacher, and her pupils included Fabio Armilato among others.
