Louie was born to Tom and Gertrude Holliday in Philip South Dakota. He was born early and at home. I remember my Grandma telling me that they put him in the dresser drawer with a mason jar of hot water to keep him warm. Winters were brutal in South Dakota and had already set in before he was born.

Louie had 1 sister, Flola. He and his sister not only close in age but they were unseparatable friends. His family was very poor so he was no stranger to hard work. He helped his parents every day on the farm raising everything they ate.

Louie met Madeline Schlottman and soon married her. In the early years of their marriage, they remained in Philip South Dakota and in 1934 they had a son, Lauren Dale. Some time after the birth of his son, they moved to Elmhurst Il where he received a job at GM. Although he didn't have a complete education, he worked had and was promoted all the way up to inspector. When he was in his 40's, he and Madeline was blessed with a daughter Diana Lynne. They raised her in Elmhurst along side their grandchildren from Lauren. Diana was the light in her father's eyes. In 1969, Diana passed away from brain cancer and he and Madeline were devistated.

They remained in Elmhurst, he continued to work at GM until he retired. Louie was diagnosed with Alzhimers and later on with Kidney cancer. He went on to heaven to be with his daughter Diana in December 1991.
