While attending high school, he participated in football and became interested in music when he was present at church functions. He joined the group "The Glenwoods" before they evolved into "Steam". Their self-titled debut album was released in 1970, for which contained "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye". The single of which was recorded in 1969 earned a number one Billboard chart placing for two weeks. In 2014, he released the album "Longtime Comin". He died from lung cancer.
