Louis immigrated to the United States about 1890 and was naturalized about 1895-6. His first language was French and he did learn to speak English.
At age 28 he married Anna Derouin and census records indicate they had at least thirteen children: Ida, Joe, Eugene, George, Emil, Albena, Alemina, Viola, Wilfred and Amelia. All of the children were born in Michigan where Louis was a farmer.
By 1930 Louis had moved his family to Chicago and he had found work as a millhand doing sash & door work.
Louis died at home in 1936.
