American Author. She was the daughter of Groucho Marx and his first wife, Ruth Johnson, and one of the last links to the Marx Brothers’ glory days. When she was born, 'The Cocoanuts' was playing on Broadway where the family was based in New York. She worked for a time on her father's quiz show, 'You Bet Your Life', and appeared in several Marx Brothers documentaries. Like her mom, who also performed with the family act, Miriam developed an alcohol problem, and had a troubled relationship with her famous father. In 1992, she wrote the best-selling book, 'Love Groucho: Letters from Groucho Marx to His Daughter Miriam', which detailed her difficult relationship with Groucho, her battle against addictive substances, and her eventual reconciliation with her father.
