Actor. He was best known for his role as Lafayette Reynolds in the HBO television series "True Blood" from 2008 to 2014. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps, but quit not long afterwards. He later attended Illinois State University and then at the age of 21 in 1998, he was accepted at the Juilliard School's Drama Division. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from there in 2004. His first acting role came in 2002 in the short film "Lost". His first television acting role came in 2005 when he was cast as Carter Howard in the series "The Inside". Besides "True Blood", his other television credits included "Veronica Mars", "Without a Trace", and "Elementary". He would also appear in such films as "The Help" (2011), "Lee Daniels' The Butler" (2013), "Get On Up" (2014) and "Little Boxes" (2016). He had just completed another film "True to the Game" (2017) before his passing.
