James graduated from Peshtigo High School class of 1984. In 1983 Stick was involved in a swimming/diving accident that left him a paraplegic. Despite his injury he never complained, expected sympathy, or wanted someone to feel sorry for him. He was independent, prideful, and had an emotional strength, he received from his Mother's faith. Stick never gave up, kept going, and was an inspiration to others in many ways he never knew.
He enjoyed his Dad's perfectly fried eggs, Packer games in the garage, deer hunting and deer camp, riding his 4-wheeler, and spending time in the garage working on his truck, cars and woodworking projects.
Stick is survived by his father, John;
a sister, Holly (Steve) Schonfeld of Peshtigo, WI;
two brothers: David (Julie) Overman of Marinette, WI and Anthony "Tony" (special friend, Laurie Gaines) Overman of Peshtigo, WI;
a special friend, Kim Pillsbury;
nieces and nephews: Joshua (Bert) Schonfeld, Derek (Elly), Brandon, Jacob, Christian and Braden Overman, Zachary and Riley Schonfeld, and Jamie (Jon) Good;
and also survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva, in 2013.
Family will received relatives and friends at Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home Saturday, July 22nd, from 10:30 a.m. until the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. with Deacon Chuck Schumacher officiating.
