Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Born in Arkansas, he was a Native American Seminole Indian, serving as a Sergeant in the Seminole-Negro Indian Scout Detachment. On April 25, 1875, he was on a scouting patrol with three other men at the Pecos River, Texas. There he participated in a charge against 25 hostiles and rescued his commanding officer, Lieut John L. Bullis while sustaining heavy fire. For courage in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on May 28, 1875.
