Professional Football Player. For eleven seasons (1966 and 1968 to 1977), he played at the tight-end and wide-receiver positions in the American and National Football Leagues with the Oakland Raiders, Baltimore Colts and San Francisco 49ers. Born Thomas Gordon Mitchell, he was raised in Pennsylvania, where he attended Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. He played collegiate football at Bucknell University and while with the Bisons, he distinguished himself when he set school records in receptions for one game with 13 (against Harvard on October 3, 1964) and receiving yards in one game with 264 (against Temple on October 9, 1965). Selected by the Oakland Raiders during the 3rd round of the 1966 AFL Draft, he totaled 145 career regular season AFL and NFL games. He contributed to Baltimore's reaching of the World Championship Game (Super Bowl III) in 1969 and experienced a Super Bowl title (Super Bowl V) with the Colts in 1971. After retiring from football, he operated a golf course. He was inducted into the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame in 1979.
