The Belleville Telescope, March 15, 1907
Miss Mary Seifert was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 5th, 1852. In 1872 she removed to Washington County, Kansas, where her parents homesteaded, and on January 14th, 1873 was united in marriage to Mr. T. C. Preble. Several years later she came to Cuba. Republic county, with her husband where they have lived for the past twenty-two years.
For a number of years Mrs. Preble has been an invalid suffering from a cancer, and had been unable to leave her bed since last September. During all that time she has borne her pain with remarkable courage, and while death though not unexpected, came as a relief to her suffering, it was none the less a regret to her relatives and loving friends who were accustomed to her bright and cheerful spirit throughout her entire sickness.
The death angle called her on Saturday, March 8th and on Monday the funeral was held from the Catholic church conducted by Father Dragoon. She was buried in the Catholic cemetery beside her parents.
The deceased was fifty-five years of age and besides a husband and one son, Ed Preble, leaves three sisters and three brothers, namely: Mrs. Ezra Williams of this city, Mrs. M. A. Preble of Scandia, Mrs. Rasmussen of Washington, county, Val Seifert of Narka, Frank Seifert of Washington county.
She was a loving wife and mother and a true friend whose death will be sincerely mourned by all who knew her and the bereaved friends and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
