David S. Hawkins
COLUMBUS, Ind. - David S. Hawkins, 63, of Columbus, Ind., died June 21 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born June 14, 1941, in Wolf County, he was the son of John H. and Bessie Layne Hawkins. He was retired from the Vernco Corp., where he worked in quality control, and was a member of Central Heights Church of God and National Muzzleloader Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Mae Taylor Hawkins; a son, Shawn D. Hawkins of Columbus; three brothers, Elmer Hawkins of Columbus, Delbert Hawkins of Crab Orchard, and Felmer Hawkins of Eubank; and three sisters, Clara Cantrell of Shelby Gap, Thetta Denney of Crab Orchard, and Loretta Connors of Stanford. Services were Saturday at Community Church of Columbus by the Rev. Dan Gutenson. Burial was in Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may go to the David S. Hawkins Memorial Fund. Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
