Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Clifford “Honey” Roberts Saxon, age 105, of Midville, GA on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Burke County Hospital.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Midville First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott McKinney officiating and Rev. Leonard Quick assisting.

Interment will follow in the Midville City Cemetery

The family will receive friends at Midville First Baptist Church, Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 9:30 AM until time of service.

Pallbearers are Anthony Glynn “Tony” Saxon, Hugh Edward “Tripp” Saxon III, Tracy Paul Saxon, Pinkney Victor “Trey” Love III, Tyler Ewing Love, and Jason Sauls.

Honorary Pallbearers are Midville Garden Club Members, Midville Baptist WMU, and Jim Day.

Mrs. Saxon was born on November 20, 1911, in Screven County, to the late Carl Augustus and Annie Lee Murray Roberts. Clifford has been a residence of Burke County since 1935, was a 1929 graduate of Hiltonia High School and also a graduate of Rhiners Business School. She was a past member of the John McElmurry Chapter 369, Order of the Eastern Star, Waynesboro, GA, lifetime member of the State Garden Club and Midville Garden Club, served as a Pink Lady at the Burke Medical Center, and was a member of the Centenarian Club. Mrs. Saxon was a long time member of the Midville First Baptist Church, served as the Girls Auxiliary Leader for many years, a member of the Vera Warren Bible School Class, and a member of the Midville First Baptist Church WMU. Mrs. Saxon enjoyed working in the yard, going to church, playing the piano, and reading. Family reunions and gatherings were all a special part of Mrs. Clifford’s life. Honey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Hugh E. Saxon Sr.; three brothers, Julian H. Roberts, Clarence L. Roberts, and Rayford Roberts; Two sisters, Grace Herrington and Jewel Brantley; and grandson, Anthony Todd Saxon.

Survivors include:

Two Sons: William Glynn Saxon (Valerie) of Midville, GA and Hugh Edward “Eddie” Saxon Jr. (Susan) of Deltona, FL. One Special Nephew Loy R. Roberts of Cocoa, FL.

One Daughter: Elaine Saxon Day (Jim) of North Augusta, SC

Ten Grandchildren: Debbie S. Burch, Tony Saxon, Gina Saxon, Tripp Saxon, Tracy Saxon, Tiffany S. Amengual, Melissa Thurston Sauls, Pickney “Trey” Victor Love, III, Tyler Ewing Love, and Brooke Cochran.

Two Step Grandchildren: Laura Krejci and Joe Patchen.

Twenty-Four Great Grandchildren, Five Step Great Grandchildren, Five Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
