Lucinda C. Garrard was born in Clay County, KY on December 28, 1827. She was the daughter of Col. Daniel and Lucinda Jane Toulmin Garrard and Granddaughter of second Kentucky Governor, James Garrard and Elizabeth Mountjoy Garrard. Lucinda was a sister to American Civil War General Theophilus T. Garrard, who organized Union Forces in S.E. KY and was credited with preventing KY from falling to the Confederates during the American Civil War. Lucinda married William Chesnut (Laurel County, KY) on November 2, 1847. They had several children and moved to Platte County, MO in 1859. Lucinda Chesnut died at St. Joseph, MO on September 5, 1894.
