Venice Tucker Rains age 96 of Centre, AL went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2017 at Cherokee Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Rains will lie in state at Perry Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday August 6, 2017. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Perry Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation with family will follow after the service until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. There will be no Graveside Service. Burial will be at Cherokee Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers include Tucker nephews, former Sand Valley neighbors, homebound visitors, and special caregiver, Rene Dupree.

Survivors include daughters, Gail Hayes, Freida (Andy) Ellis, and son Ronnie Rains, all of Centre. Grandchildren are: Kyle(Luanne) Hayes, Brandi Rains, Misti (Rex) Howell, Andrea Givens, and Wae (Mary) Ellis. Ten great grandchildren survive. Sisters include Runette Green, Betty (Harold) Trotter and a brother Phillip (Eloise) Tucker and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rains is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Woodrow W. Rains and great grandson Ian Ellis. Venice was the oldest child of the late Vester and Alphia Tucker.

She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, member of Centre First Baptist Church, active in WMU, and Alabama Farmers (Women’s) Federation.

The family request that memorials be made to Centre First Baptist Church.
