Jane Amey Meggs was born in Washington City in 1825 to Elizabeth Meggs (nee Redston) and Richard Meggs (a silk mercer).
Sometime between her birth and 1841, Jane and her widowed mother moved to London where Elizabeth remarried. On 29th May 1848 Jane married William Lyon (b 1820) a glass cutter, at Holy Trinity, Newington.
Jane and William had 6 children;
Jane Elizabeth Lyon (1848-1850)
Jane Lyon (1851- ?)
Thomas Lyon (1853 - ?)
William Lyon (1856 - ?)
Edward Lyon (1859 - ?)
James Lyon (1865 - ?)
Jane died in Lambeth in 1866, and was buried in Norwood Cemetery, Norwood Road, Lambeth on 28th November 1866.
