Born on a farm near Farnam in Frontier County to Opie and Bettina "Mae" (Gardner) Hicks. Grew up in the Farnam area and graduated from Farnam High School in 1941. After graduation, she moved with her parents to Grand Island. There she worked at the Grand Island Airbase packing parachutes and later did office work there and worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. Also lived in Hastings and Kearney and Lincoln, working at in the office of the Lincoln Air Base and Lincoln Veteran's Hospital. In 1975 she returned to Grand Island and worked as an admission clerk at the Grand Island Veteran's home.
Survivors included a number of cousins. Preceded in death by her parents.
