Jack Redfield was born August 1, 1918 to Albert D. Redfield and May (Andrews) Redfield in Henrybro, WA. He had two sisters, Ellen Redfield, and Shirley (Redfield) Sproul. Jack died Wed., February 26, 2014 in Yakima, WA at Garden Village. He was raised on a farm in Selah, WA. He married Daphlin Sluder in 1938. They had two children, daughter Melvina "Cookie" Redfield and son Michael Redfield.Jack was a Staff Sgt. in the US Army during WWII. He served in the combat infantry as squad leader 745. He served in the Battle of Luzon and received recognition medals for Asiatic Pacific Service, Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Service Medal with bronze service star, COMB Inf Badge, and Good Conduct Medal.After the war Jack Redfield settled in Yakima, WA where he later married Maryalice Pointer Krause. Jack worked as an ironworker with the Ironworkers Union until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. Upon his retirement he became a clock smith. He also enjoyed baking bread and canning. Jack and Maryalice became supporters of the Yakima Greenway and enjoyed bicycling the Greenway with family.Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maryalice Redfield; sister Shirley Sproul (Robert); daughter Cookie (Ken) Irvine; granddaughters, Debbie (Irvine) Bjorklund, and Linda (Irvine-Norman) Choyce (Jeff); great grandchildren, Jessica Hansen (Samuel), Lisa Bjorklund, and great-great grandchildren, Annalisa (Jessica) Norman, and Brynna (Jessica) Hansen.Jack was preceded in death by his parents Albert D. Redfield and May (Andrews) Redfield; sister Ellen Redfield; son Michael Redfield; great grandson Jason Norman; and step-son Robert Krause.Military honors will be performed at interment. A family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the V.F.W. or a charity of your choice.
