He was best known to television viewers as 'Oscar Goldman,' the head of the Office of Scientific Intelligence on the 1970s series "The Six Million Dollar Man," and its spinoff "The Bionic Woman," as well as its subsequent television movies. He served a seventeen month stint in the Army during World War II and after he left the military, he studied at the Actors Laboratory in Los Angeles. He was later mentored in the acting profession by Cary Grant. His first acting role came in the 1947 film "The Pearl." He would go on to appear in numerous films during a career that spanned eight decades with such credits as "The Magnificent Yankee" (1950), "Scaramouche" (1952), "Escape from Fort Bravo" (1953), "Forbidden Planet" (1956), "Paths of Glory" (1957), "The Long, Hot Summer" (1958), "Seven Days in May (1962), "Seconds" (1966), and "Tora! Tora! Tora!" (1970). He made his first appearance on the small screen in 1954 on the television series "Captain Midnight," and was cast as 'Lieutenant Steve Drumm' in the final season of the original series "Perry Mason" (1965 to 1966). Besides playing Oscar Goldman on "The Six Million Dollar Man" and its numerous spinoffs and television movies, his credits included "Zorro," "Bus Stop," "Target: The Corruptors," "The Rifleman," "The Lieutenant," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," "12 O'Clock High," "The Fugitive," "I Spy," "The Wild, Wild West," "The Invaders," The Big Valley," "Dan August," "The F.B.I.," "Ironside," "Knight Rider," "Cover Up," "Dynasty," "Murder, She Wrote," and "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues."
